The Global Facility launches Digital Path: An E-Learning platform suitable for development context

Updated: Oct 5, 2021

The Global Facility, through the partnership with Microsoft, has developed a digital training platform, called Digital Path to serve beneficiaries at the global and local level. The platform was launched during UN General Assembly 2021 and will offer curated cutting-edge content provided by all partners of the Global Facility, to support MSMEs in their effort to go green and digitally transform; business development and strategy guidance; impact measurement and management; and how to go towards sustainable business practices and trade. With these efforts, the Global Facility seeks to support MSME resilience and to prepare them to comply with the demands for impact management and measurement.

Justin Spelhaug, Vice President of Tech for Social Impact, Microsoft Philanthropies

"Through Digital Path, we will roll out SME skilling and capacity building services using the Microsoft Community Training platform in developing economies around

the world."

Marcos Neto, Director Finance Sector Hub, UNDP

"This platform offers a unique opportunity to provide cutting-edge content from the Global Facility partners in a development context through offline and low bandwidth requirements, to support MSMEs in critical aspects of their business development including green and digital transformation, business strategy and development, cross-border trade, and how to measure and manage impact"

Digital Path roll-out

The first two pilot cases for the Digital Path platform are for the Global Facility in Colombia in the effort to reactivate MSMEs and support under three thematic areas; Digital Transformation, Business Strengthening to reach new markets; and Financial Mechanisms and in Ghana to empower young local entrepreneurs and Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises to drive the transition.

This platform will be accessible through the Global Facility’s website and soon a mobile App will be set up to also access through mobile phones and tablets.
